Great book - but dated
The first edition of this book was excellent, and this (second) edition (1991) is also excellent, although a few of the best writings from the first edition were dropped from this edition. This is a comprehensive overview and discussion of key concepts and dynamics in working with this difficult population. I keep it on my reference shelf and refer to it when looking for good overviews of classroom issues. The biggest difficulty I have with this book is that it is now more than 20 years old, and the field has moved on.
Some of the content, and all of the references, are dated, and do not reflect the more current literature. Other authors have written more updated books - it would be great to see an updated edition of this book, which was a semi-classic several years ago.
