Best Introduction to Go for Westerners
Basically, this book is the best introduction to GO for either westerners or beginners. He covers every fundamental of go like handicapping, thickness, fuseki, joseki, Big Five, Big Ten, Internet Go, sente, gote, strategy, influence, et al. It's great that he does all of this in one book, but the real charm is that he explains it without the confusing language or flowery aphorisms that one can get in more overpriced books. It's a shame that the author has vanished, because this book really needs to be in print. This is worth having just for the clear application of ideas in straightforward diagrams. Though it discusses theory, it is not very academic. On these merits alone, this book leaves the competition in the dust. If you can find a copy, buy it.
