Seller's Description:
Good. Size: 8x0x11; Anyone who has fly-fished from a drift boat knows the potential for a great day while floating downstream--and if the hoppers are happening, it can be downright euphorious. By covering lots of river and getting long, drag-free drifts on the fly, a fly-fisher will frequently hook more fish while watching the scenic beauty of the riparian environment go by. The author of Drift Boat Fly Fishing offers excellent instruction on getting the most out of this mobile form of fly-fishing, with chapters on casting from a drift boat, mending the line, reading the water, and capitalizing on the inherent advantages of fishing from a boat.

I've been fly fishing long enough to have purchased the first edition of Fly Fisherman Magazine and have a respectable library covering fly fishing and fly tying. I fly fish trout, steelhead, and salmon with both single and double handed fly rods. I tye flies. I also fish with gear, drift fish, float fish, and have been one of the two man crew on a commercial salmon troller in Alaska. I own a drift boat and bought this book shortly after the boat. There are considerations about fly fishing from a drift boat that are very different from wade fishing and that information is covered in detail in this text. If you are planning to fish from a drift boat, or planning to be the oarsman, the equipment decisions, ettiquet, casting demands and how to make those casts under fishing conditions, seasonal considerations, insects and terminal rigging are all here. You are going to read a very thoughtful and knowledgeable authors instructions and approach to reading and fishing water from inside and outside the boat on both freestone and tailwater (spring creek type) rivers. The photos and illustrations are very good and the book is well laid out with the chapters topically presented. You will find yourself re-reading sections a couple of times to be sure that you didn't miss anything. This book is full of tips and information that will make you both a better fly fisherman and a capable drift boat fly fisherman. Buy it!
