Through artwork and step-by-step lessons, this manual demonstrates how to draw wildlife in a way that is not only accurate but also attempts to capture the personality of the animal. There is advice on how to work on location, how to find the animal you are seeking to draw and how to draw from photographs. There are exercises on how to prepare the working surface, and on painting, glazing and varnishing. The authors also cover how to add depth and texture, and how to depict fur, feathers and differing animal features.

Well suited for artists already painting/experienced in art. Offers the novice artist some helpful hints and good demonstrations. If your medium is oil this book shows how Aldrich paints a variety of wild cats, a wolf and bird. I liked the book because all of Aldrich's paintings are impressive and there are many animals represented by his artwork in this book. Much better than a Bateman. A good read as well, only a short overview of basics, including drawing and subject matter.
