The homes in this book are beautiful and functional - I especially like Heron Rock Cottage; the Lindal Cedar Homes modern prefab home built on Whidbey Island in Washington State. (Disclaimer: I have actually toured this home and it is as amazing as it looks in the photographs). All the homes are under 2,500 square feet. Sheri Koones makes a strong case (and provides practical examples) for downsizing and simplifying your life while also minimizing your carbon footprint. She offers good advice for people who want to build their own home - such as eliminating hallways as much as possible to maximize use of space. The Downsizing Features/Green Features sidebars that accompany each house are helpful.
