As the day marches on and the afternoon sun moves further to the west, George London, along with a crack team of ex-SAS soldiers, parachute into Russia. Their mission is to search for, and recover, alien artefacts for dear ol' Blighty and to prevent any advanced technology falling into enemy hands . Covertly moving through the countryside, they make their way to Numenobman lake where a large chunk of alien debris is being ransacked by Russian military forces. With luck on their side, they find themselves in the tent where the Russians are storing large quantities of the alien spaceship. With an assortment of oddments to choose from, Carter is in doubt of the authenticity of the items they have found and questions their true origins. Before long, opposing opinions within the squad, as to what constitutes an artefact of worth, leads to dissension. With petty bickering turning into a noisy squabble, the Russians become aware of their presence and sound the alarm. With their pockets full of alien technology - or just some old bicycle parts - they make a dash for cover, but are soon surrounded by Russian troops and forced towards the edge of a dangerous precipice.
