Because Cimarosa's operas and cantatas have become quite obscure, their overtures provide the best chance of a revival, even though the bulk of them are seldom performed or recorded. They are typically light and spirited, and similar in flavor to Mozart and Rossini, especially in their tunefulness, elegance, and cheerfulness.
