Very Good. First edition. Printed boards with quarter red buckram boards with gilt spine. Inscribed by the illustrator Véronique Bour to the ex-arts editor of the Folio Society, from whose library this originated. Very minor rubbing to edges. In original slipcase showing minor shelf wear and very minor sunning to mouth.
I don't have the standard American's complaint (it's too hard to keep track of the alien sounding names) because I've read a lot of classic Russian literature.

My complaint about Zhivago is that the characters are paper cut-outs. We never get to really know them, and what motivates them. There's no empathy between us and the characters.

Pasternak should have stuck to poetry.
