Seller's Description:
Good. No dust jacket as issued. Green cloth binding with black spine, appears to be newer than the book itself. A provenance of the book is written in pencil on the second endpages. The book was formerly owned by E.P. Hildreth, a clergyman, and brother of Richard Hildreth, historian and abolitionist (1807-1865). There is a damp stain on the first few pages and minor foxing throughout. The book is stiff to open, probably because of the rebinding. The word "Christian" is mispelled in the handwritten title on the spine, and the author's name is incorrectly given as Chambers.

Some offsetting and foxing to text, but still quite readable. Scarce.
