This is a wonderful book! It is set up with 52 themes - one per week. For each week, there is an Invocation, Psalm, Prayer, and Benediction -but a different scripture and "selection for meditation" for each day- all focused on that week's theme. The "selection for meditations" are made up of the writings of such as Henri J. Nouwen, Andrew Murray, Abraham Joshua Heschel, Thomas a` Kempis and Hannah Whitall Smith. The weekly themes touch on such subjects as "Addressing God", "Doubts", "Humility", "Obstacles", and "Celebration".
I am now on Week 30: "The Lord's Prayer".
I was thrilled to be able to find one for each of the women in my LifeGroup, to use in their personal time!

Such a joy
This is the best devotional guide I have used in years. I have plenty collecting dust that I used a week, a month, a day. But this book has been a joy to use. Sometimes I use quotations for sermon prep. Sometimes I will reread quotations for encounragement throughout the day.

Deserves 10 Stars
This is by far the best compilation of Christian reading on spiritual disciplines that I have encountered in 31 years as a believer. I am so thankful that I started reading this in the early 1990s. It has stood the test of time and no matter how often I have read it, I have been convicted, challenged and encouraged in my walk. This deserves 10 stars!

Will be a classic if not already
I am reading very slowly through "Disciplines of the Inner Life". It is set beautifully as a daily reader if you so choose to read it that way. You may also use it for general insight into specific disciplines as you wish to study it. I have found it the most enriching daily reader since I started reading "My Utmost For His Highest" years ago.

Use as devotional guide
This book has 50 topics. When I am anxious ,I go to the topic on anxiety, and medtate with scriptural reading and suggested meditation.Unless you experience with this for yourself spiritually, you don't know what I mean.It has real deep depth.
