My opinion of this book is expressed in the customer rating. I suggest forming your own, after extensive reading of widely differing viewpoints, winnowed down using good judgment.
A good (I think superior) counterpoint to this book: "Why We Get Fat", by Gary Taubes.

Great book for a balanced diet
This book was relevant when published and today as it gives options to meat with healthy protein complimentary dishes. Happy cooking!

excellent
I purchased this book for my friend's grand daughter who has decided to become a vegetarian. This was THE book in the 70's and I thought that she could glean lots of imformation from it, and she has. This book will always be a great tool for anyone wanting to become vegetarian.

Somewhat Outdated Vegetarianism Info
This is the first book I ever read on being a vegetarian and I considered it very helpful many years ago. However, I now find that thoughts on some of the subjects, such as combining different foods to obtain the proper amount protein, have changed over the years and gotten simpler so, though this is still an informative book, it is not as up-to-date as one might wish in this era.

Good book for Vegetarians
I recently decided to become vegetarian, so I bought this book to figure out how to make complete proteins with vegetable foods. It's pretty political and she discusses alot of economics. Some of the facts are interesting, but I think some of this information is out of date.
