Grade zur Zeit der Erfindung der Buchdruckerknnst standen die Arn her in hohem Ansehen und eine vorh???ltnissm???ssig grosse Anzahl der Lateinischen ???bersetzungen findet sich unter den ???ltesten Druckwerken. Die Catalogo ???ber die Handschriften sind grossentheils noch so mangelhaft, dass sie ???ber viele Fragen, welche bei einer Arbeit wie die vorliegende in Betracht kommen, keine Auskunft geben, sie lassen es z. B. Meistens zweifelhaft, ob die Lateinische ???bersetzung eines Griechischen Autors aus dem Griechischen, Arabischen oder Hebr???ischen ge macht ist und ein Irrthum, wenn ???bersetzungen fetischlich als aus dem Arabischen stammend angenommen, oder solche, die wirklich aus dem Arabischen ???bertragen wurden, ???bergangen werden, ist gewiss sehr zu entschuldigen. Zweck meiner Ar beit war, dasjenige, was mir bis jetzt als feststeheud ermittelt zu sein schien, ???ber sichtlich zusammen zu stellen, daran m???gen Andere, wie an meine Geschichte der Aerzte, weitere Untersuchungen ankn???pfen. Eine vollst???ndige Aufz???hlung aller ver schiedenen Ausgaben eines Buches habe_ich nicht beabsichtigt, da sie mir nicht zug???nglich waren und ich, wie ???berhaupt nicht, so hier am wenigsten, Andere nur ausschreiben wollte.
