Es sind nicht einmal die groberen, auf der Hand liegenden, allerdings auch von mir noch nicht publicirten topographischanatomischen Baueigenthumlichkeiten erwahnt, die sich ohne weiteres beim Studium der Rinde mit Hulfe der electiven Nervenzellenfarbung ergeben, und die einem Forscher wie Cajal nicht entgehen konnen, vorausgesetzt, dass man die electiv tingirte Rinde grundlich durchsucht. Wie kann man davon einer histologischen Kenntniss des Rindengewebes sprechen? Es giebt zwar nur einen einzigen, aber einen um so empfindlicheren Prufstein fur die Richtigkeit oder den Irrthum meiner Behauptung. Man gebe die CaJai/schen Arbeiten Forschern, die sich mit der Histologie der Rinde eingehend beschaftigt haben, und frage sie nach einem eingehenden Studium derselben, ob sie auch nur uber eine einzige bisher ihnen unklare histologische Frage Aufklarung erhalten haben. Ist dies der Fall, so ist meine Auffassung falsch. Man missverstehe mich aber nicht. Diese Worte enthalten nicht den geringsten Tadel gegen Cajal. Er hat die Rinde vom Standpunkt derNeuronenlehre mit Hulfe des GoLGi'schen Praparates untersucht und ausserdem gelegentlich noch andere Methoden zur Controlle herangezogen. Mehr wollte Cajal nicht, und mehr hat er auch nicht versprochen. Ich wehre mich einzig und allein nur gegen den etwaigen Einwand, dass ich im Hinblick auf Cajal's specielle Bearbeitung der Bewegungsrinde nicht berechtigt sein soll, seine genaue Kenntniss des histologischen Baues der menschlichen Bewegungsrinde in Abrede zu stellen und die...
