Democratic Women
As its subtitle says, ?Democratic Women? is an oral history of the Woman?s National Democratic Club. This club was formed in the early 1920s because the Democratic leadership was ignoring the feminine electorate while adopting planks of the League of Women Voters. The book is based on a series of interviews the author had with several members of the club, many of whom had been president of the club at one time or another. Various trials and tribulation are recounted, including an embezzlement of club funds by a male accountant as well as the admission of male members to the club as a matter of ?equal rights?. It is an interesting book that will adds a small, but interesting, element to women?s history.
