Excerpt from Decoration of Metal, Wood, Glass, Etc: A Book for Manufacturers, Mechanics, Painters, Decorators, and All Workmen in the Fancy Trades Size the surface to be bronzed with a suitable size, and when dry touch the prominent parts of the figure or ornament with the No. 1 bronze, and the remainder with No. 2; then soften down the lines of mixture, or contact of the two points, with a badger's hair brush. N o. 1.-grind equal parts of Dutch Metal and the following paint together and thin the mixture with a little oil of turpentine. No. 2. - Grind Prussian blue, verdigris and ochre, separately with oil, then mix them together in such proportions as will produce a green color. The above compound is what is known as a bronze paint! Instead of using No. 1 for touching up the prominent parts of the figure, Bessemer's gold paint can be employed; then cover the remainder of the figure as before with the paint No. 2.
