Seller's Description:
Very Good in Very Good jacket. First American edition. Illustrated by Charles Keeping. Contemporary owner gift inscription on front fly, faint soil spots in the margins of a couple pages, light toning on foredge, very good in a very good dust jacket with a chip at the bottom corner of the front flap, a few tiny nicks, and a small closed tear on the rear panel.
Up to the usual Rosemary Sutcliff standard. She really was a master of early Saxon and Roman history. Although this book is aimed at the children market this is equally enjoyable for adults. Thoroughly recommended.

Another Sutcliff winner!
This one is among her best work. A very fine "ending" to the sequence following the Aquila family.
