In 1966, while teaching a summer class at UCLA, 28-year-old Hockney met 18-year-old student Peter Schlesinger, who would soon relocate to London with the older artist, serving as his longtime subject and muse while also embarking on his own career as a photographer. The cover portrait of this illustrated memoir (transcribed from audio recordings of interviews with Hockney by Stangos) was taken by Schlesinger and implies an off-kilter infinity mirror, cleverly reflected in the title typography with the twinning of its 'V' and voided 'A'. 312 pp. Featured Rare & Collectible.
