Die Autoren dieses Buches konnen bereits auf eine lange Erfahrung mit C++ zuruckblicken. Die ursprungliche Idee entstammt einer Vorlesung uber die AT&T C++-Version 1.2, welche die Autoren an der Universitat Dortmund im Sommersemester 1988 gehalten haben. Diese Version der Programmier sprache wurde von den Autoren bereits in einem fruheren Buch (Bause/Tolle: Einfuhrung in die Programmiersprache C++) behandelt, welches 1989 erstmalig erschien und -wie der Titel aufzeigt -eine allgemeine Einfuhrung in die, zu der damaligen Zeit noch recht unbekannten, Programmiersprache beinhaltet. 1990 erschien die C++-Version 2.0, die erhebliche Anderungen und Erweiterungen gegenuber Version 1.2 mit sich brachte. Diese Version wurde in einem weiteren Buch (Bause/Tolle: C++ fur Programmierer) in der ersten Auflage 1990 und dann in einer zweiten, verbesserten Auflage 1991 dokumentiert. Der Inhalt dieses Buches ging dabei bereits weit uber eine allgemeine Einfuhrung in die Programmiersprache hinaus."
