Centering-Theorien sind nach Passonneau Verarbeitungsmodelle, die den lokalen Aussagen Kontext, zugrunde liegende Relationen, sowie anaphorische Referenz miteinander verbindet. Eine fundamentale dem Centering zugrunde liegende Annahme ist dabei, dass die Verarbeitung eines Diskurses eine kontinuierliche Erneuerung des lokalen Fokus (local focus) enth???lt. Um das diskurstheoretische Verst???ndnis von Texten, analytisch verstehen zu k???nnen, werden zun???chst die Vor- und Nachteile der divergierenden Centering-Theorien ausgef???hrt. Daran anschlie???end wird die Theorie von Walker genauer exemplifiziert und empirisch an Texten getestet. Die Darstellung der Theorie von Walker soll sich dabei an drei Fragestellungen orientieren. Zun???chst soll untersucht werden, wie sich die Koh???renz eines Textes anhand der Verwendung von referierenden Ausdr???cken untersuchen l???sst. Diese Frage wird vor allem im ersten Kapitel von zentraler Bedeutung sein. Der zweite Untersuchungsschwerpunkt ist, welche Reichweite Referenzbeziehungen haben, und daraus folgend welcher Anwendungsbereich mit Theorien der lokalen Koh???renz untersucht werden kann. In Kapitel 3 wird versucht, dieses Forschungsinteresse etwas zu erhellen. Der Frage wie sich Texte segmentieren lassen, so dass die Wirkung und Reichweite von Anaphora mit Theorien der lokalen Koh???renz untersucht werden kann, wird zun???chst in Kapitel 4 im Zentrum der Aufmerksamkeit stehen, bevor in Kapitel 5 empirisch untersucht wird, ob sich die theoretischen Annahmen aus Kapitel 4 auch an empirischen Beispielen best???tigen lassen.
