The point the Trophy Husbands miss, along with so many of their alt-country brethren, is that what makes a great country record is sincerity. You have to believe in what you're saying. It has to matter to you. Otherwise it doesn't matter how good a player you are. If, at the base of it, you just couldn't give a damn, or worse, have some sort of snide contempt for the issues and people you sing of, you make an album like this. Not bad.
