Con todo, es el tirano quien tiene m???s dif???cil el dominio de s??? mismo, sin el cual no hay verdadera virtud; por lo tanto, tampoco tiene verdadero gobierno. Dionisia se ve incapaz de seguir los consejos del fil???sofo y Plat???n se vuelve a Atenas, despu???s de haber sido apresado por unos piratas, esclavizado y finalmente rescatado. Fue reconocido en el mercado de esclavos de Egina por An???ceris de Cirene, fil???sofo amigo que lo reconoci???, pag??? su rescate y volvi??? a Atenas. El referido hecho hist???rico, relatado con una t???cita dosis de humor, nos transmite un dato perturbador: ni siquiera un gran fil???sofo, artista de la definici???n, predecesor de lo que luego los fil???sofos denominaremos el an???lisis de los conceptos; un fil???sofo, digo, devoto de la verdad y del poder del argumento, como Plat???n, est??? exento de equivocarse y mucho. Pero, ???qu??? significa que un fil???sofo se equivoque? Puesto el asunto de otro modo ???qu??? rol noble o innoble desempe???amos los fil???sofos en la vida p???blica?
