This is a book that takes the reader to the past with such realism, that you can see the scenery, picture the homes and the people. It is a story woven by a great story teller. It captures your attention and you want to know what will happen next. It is not a difficult book that draws things out too long, but it was written a long time ago. If you are looking for a modern romance, this is not it. But Grace Livingston Hill was one of most the creative writers I have read. I actually own over 100 of her books, and enjoy rereading them just to remember the stories. So if you want a book that is free of unpleasantries, and directs the reader in a subtle way, to thinking about God, this is the book for you. You can curl up on the couch and enjoy it.
