It's very rare that at the end of reading a book I have the urgent desire to contact the author personally. But, even before I finished reading "Counselor," I felt like Ted Sorensen was the type of person I'd love to be able to just sit down to dinner with, shut my mouth, and let him just talk for hours about all of the amazing parts of American and world history he's been a part of. Full disclosure, I've always been a huge fan of the Kennedys. I wasn't born when JFK was killed and I wasn't even two when Bobby was assassinated, but their stories have always had an important place in my heart. So, whenever there's a new book that is related to them I try to read it right away. Last year I couldn't get enough of reading "Brothers" by David Talbot. Sorensen's story of a life that takes him from quiet Nebraska to the White House with JFK and then on to every corner of the world as a lawyer is just inspiring and truly an example of the American Dream. His tales of being JFK's right-hand man left me wanting to know more and wishing I'd been a fly on the wall for even just one private meeting between the two. If you want to read about an amazing American, you can't go wrong in reading "Counselor" by Ted Sorensen.
