Written by two leaders in corneal disease, this exquisite color atlas provides a visual summary of diseases of the cornea as well as other aspects related to its trauma and surgical complications. Using both their extensive slide collections as well as those of their colleagues, the authors provide a visual journey through ocular adnexal and anterior segment disease. Modern technology in computer imaging has allowed the authors to produce an atlas unlike any others currently available on the cornea. In order to increase their educational value, many images have been computer-enhanced as well as augmented by labels and magnified insets. Each image is accompanied by a brief description of important points. This is the only comprehensive color atlas that covers both medical as well as surgical aspects of the cornea. Twenty chapters cover the following topics - anatomic abnormalities, tumors, and inflammation and infection of the lids; disorders of tear production and the lacrimal system, conjunctival tumors, conjunctivitis, developmental abnormalities of the cornea, corneal manifestations of systemic disease, corneal dystrophies, ectatic disorders, and degenerations; corneal infections, interstitial keratitis, noninfectious keratopathy, immunologic disorders of the cornea, corneal trauma, contact lens complications, scleral disorders, anterior uveitis, penetrating keratoplasty, therapeutic and reconstructive procedures, and refractive surgery. 887 4-color images that have been computer-enhanced to highlight critical features. Using the computer to remove artifacts as well as improve the brightness, color, and contrast of images, the authors have provided an atlas with high quality color images. Magnified insets have been created to accompany many images in order to further emphasize important details.
