But, befides that the wifdom and im partiality of our judges are too great to be ia uenced by popular prepo 'efiions, it is to be obferved that the veracity of depofitious, till controverted in a court, is at befi problemati cal; the validity of their evidence depending on the judiciousinveftigation of its degree and quality, and the final refalt which thence de termines thedecifion of the judge.
