This is a brilliant architecture book. Was not on the reading list for my MSc in Computer Science, but was much better than the recommended one. It only touches on assembly language, so if that's what you are looking for, this isn't the book for you, but it covers extensively number systems, boolean algebra and gate networks, logic design, arithmetic-logic unit, I/O devices, buses and interfaces, control unit and computer architecture, I think this book can't be beaten. Although it's quite old now, these basic concepts haven't changed, and chips/circuits are still built on the same principles. I found this book indispensible and cannot speak of it highly enough. It covers above topics to a great depth, explaining them in an easy to understand way, not in confusing symbols and jargon of many books. If you can learn everything in this book, you won't be missing much at all. Best architecture book I have seen. By miles..
