The developmental view of old age sees it as a period of having an array of changes and progressions, as earlier life stages do -- a period of intense living rather than "predeath". Indeed, as Ewald W. Busse points out. "Many people 65 and older who statistically are assigned to the older population actually consider themselves to be middle aged, both mentally and physically".
