When 10 Brothers of Charity left Ghent (Belgium) as missionaries in 1928, little did they know about the fascinating events that would shape their lives and the life of those fortunate enough to cross their path in Southern Africa. Driven by an unwavering determination to succeed, exposed to the whims of nature and the political turmoil of the times, they would create a concept, an institution, a school that would for almost fifty years carry with it the seal of learning, of beauty and divine providence. The Pietersburg College would not turn out to be the only feather in their cap - the black mission Pax in Doornspruit and the St Conrad's Brothers of Charity College in Klerksdorp would also bear testimony to their courage, their inventiveness and their ability to adapt to changing circumstances. In the end, as in all human endeavour, life would take its toll and the College of the Little Flower - Brothers of Charity College (Pietersburg- Polokwane -South Africa ) would form no exception to that. This well-researched historical book is a tribute to those missionary-teachers who made it happen but also to those men and women of every creed and race who seconded them, mainly the Benedictines, the Dominican Sisters of Siena Newcastle, the King's Sisters and the Sisters of Charity of Heule. The preface of this richly illustrated book was written by Brother Ren??? Stockman, Superior-General of the Brothers of Charity worldwide.
