Concentrating entirely on film scores, Soundtracks with a Twist! features a cross section of movie music from the '60s, including songs written by Burt Bacharach, Henry Mancini, Nelson Riddle, Herbie Hancock, Ennio Morricone, Quincy Jones, John Barry, Alex North and George Duning. Nearly all of the music on the collection features light strings, swinging brass, psuedo-rock & roll beats and incessently catchy melodies. The album largely draws from British films like Lolita, What's Up Pussy Cat, Grand Slam, Blow-Up, and The Knack...And How to Get It, with a few American and French films thrown in for good measure. But the whole sound of the album is the sound of swinging London, complete with "la-la-la" backing vocals, muted horns and bright, punchy hooks.
