I was hoping for more personal details, and perhaps novel photos of the late great Clifford Brown beyond what have been published in liner notes. There is some information of Clifford growing up, and a few photos I had not seen previously. Nevertheless, the book, particularly the last half, is largely the authors annotations of recording sessions and comments on solos and various out takes. Perhaps that is the mystery of the musical genius Clifford Brown - we can only listen to the sonic fragments left behind and imagine what would have been.
