Dead and Buried
I was looking forward to a brand new "Gabby Book" coming out, as she is probably my favorite person out of all of Christy Barritt's fictional characters, and I have enjoyed seeing Gabby mature and grow. I like the idea of the Cold Case Squad, and enjoyed the new team members, Evie and Sherman, but I have to say, I truly missed the collection of friends who lived in Gabby's apartment building in the earlier books. Even though Gabby talked with Riley on the phone, it just wasn't the same. Gabby is just getting her feet wet in this new venture, and can't decide if she even likes her team members, but they do end up working well together when trying to solve a ten year old double homicide. I debated about giving it 4 or 5 stars (wish there was a 4.5), but only because I missed the interaction between Gabby and her husband and friends, so some of the quirky humor and familiarity seemed to be lacking, as compared to earlier books. I did enjoy this book though and look forward to the next Cold Case. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions are my own.
