Foreword by Robert Wise. 4to. Quarter black cloth with gilt spine lettering and black paper over boards, pictorial dust jacket. xxi, 243pp. Numerous illustrations. Fine/near fine. Outstanding first edition of this delightful semi-centennial celebration of the 1941 Orson Welles drama often considered the greatest of American films--and bearing choice autograph addition: Tipped to front flyleaf is a First Day Cover signed by one of the film's leads: JOSEPH COTTEN (1905-94), who portrays Charles Foster Kane's best friend Jedediah Leland. 3½" X 6½", it bears a single "Voice of America" 5-cent stamp at upper right and was cancelled in Washington, DC on 1 August 1967 with "First Day of Issue" so stamped. Fine. Typed recipient's name/address, and below this Cotten signs in black fineline. Leftmost third bears fine engraved Art Craft "25th Anniversary / Voice of America" pictorial cachet. Fine. Cotten worked on a variety of Voice of America radio productions over the years, making his signature on this FDC especially appropriate.
