I throughly enjoyed this novel. It reminded me of a small country church, but sat in a large city. The Reverend Henry Simmons, Tall, good -looking, I'm sure smelling good, talking good, spurting all the good and a lot of no good for all the women to hear. It is often said that most preachers are held in celebrity status, entertainers saying all for those who will hear. Then came Essie Lee Lane, it seemed another conquest for Rev. Simmons to conquer, but little did he know that he would fall that hard, in love and in turn, end up falling for the woman who would take no stuff. As the drama un-folds, and the past is played for all the world to see, this book brings a lot of past mistakes to mind, which we all have in our past, and the church who will not let you forget the past, and carefully watching your future, shows how God forgives, if we ask, how a marriage can be mended, if we have Christ in our lives and even takes us to a surprise ending. I truly enjoyed how it all came together, a man in love with his wife, but after all, he is still a man who just happens to be a man of the cloth. It's hard to struggle in everyday life, but when you are trying to do right, it is indeed a harder struggle.
