Christmas With the Mormon Tabernacle Organ & Chimes is an album of organist Alexander Schreiner performing Christmas standards. Although the Mormon Tabernacle name is usually associated with some quality performances, this time around there seems to be something lacking in the performance. Schreiner is obviously a talented organist, but the drawn out spaces he leaves between notes begins to make the music sound sloppy after a while. Although he may have been worried about the notes blending too much, that concern does not translate to the album, where the notes are crystal clear. Still, the performance is still quite good, but the album is just kind of flat and uninspired.
