It is readily apparent that the author knows Ghana very well. He makes you feel as though you were there, a not altogether comfortable feeling. The 'civilization' we take for granted is shown to be quite shallow, and is often built on the backs of the less fortunate. I enjoyed these books very much, I always enjoy being introduced to new cultures and lifestyles, especially when that introduction makes one think.
