Seller's Description:
312 pp. Octavo. Chocolate brown cloth. Black lettering on the spine. In a dust jacket; not price clipped. Dust jacket has several chips along the head. Internally a bright and clean copy. Signed in red on the half title. This biography of Chester Himes was written by Stephen F. Milliken in 1976. Milliken noted that his goal in presenting his critiques of Himes' novels, novellas and short stories was to argue that Himes was one of the greatest writers of all time...and adds that it should be impossible to determine from such a critique whether the critic themselves was black or white. This book was inscribed by Chester Himes to his agent Roslyn Tang in red ink on the half title. Laid in as well is a photograph of a letter from Chester to Roslyn.
