In the Virginia Minerals Building will be found the exhibits of a number of coal and coke companies. The Birtha Zinc Co. has in their space a full-sized section of a hand fired zinc furnace with retorts and condensers, also a section of their zinc mines and specimens of spelter, etc. The various iron companies of the state also have on exhibition specimens of their ores, etc. Of interest, owing to the fact that few people know of the existence of anthracite coal in Virginia, is the exhibit of the Virginia Anthracite Co. The Mathieson Alkali Works, Saltville, Va., has a case full of soda products and the various railroads of the state have on exhibition ores, etc., found or mined along their line within the borders of Virginia. In the Mining Pavilion four Portland cement companies have exhibits. In that of the Sandusky Portland Cement Co., Sandusky. ()., will be seen some beautiful casts and medallions made from a pure white cement which this company is now erecting a plant for the manufacture of near York, Pa. In the States Exhibit Building several of the states have interesting exhibits of minerals, etc. New Jersey has cases with specimens showing various stages in the magnetic concentration of iron ores and in the manufacture of Portland cement, also specimens of zinc ores and glass sands. South Carolina's space is devoted largely to cotton and cotton products. By the way, those who do not believe in the palatability of cotton seed oil should visit the exhibit of one of the cotton-seed oil companies in the Pure Food Building, where an interesting demonstration along this...
