Chainbreaker's war path led him to some of the bloodiest episodes of the Revolution, beginning with the Battle of Oriskany and the Wyoming Valley Massacre, and ending with valiant but vain attempts to stop General Sullivan's armies from destroying Iroquois settlements after George Washington decided they were a greater threat to the fledgling nation than the British armies.
