Illustrated with a colour frontispiece and a folding map to the front of the text. A detailed account of the massacre at Cawnpore, or Kanpur, the second largest city of the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, during the Indian Rebellion of 1857. With chapters on the outbreak, the siege, and the treachery. Written by Sir George Otto Trevelyan, a British statesman and author. Bound in half crushed morocco with marbled boards. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and fading to the spine. The odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Minor age toning to the endpapers with light loss to the tip of the front endpaper. School prize stamp and ink inscription to the front pastedown. Very Good.
