Good. Book. Folio-over 12"-15" tall. BC05D Copy 6 of 150. Privately Printed, 1907. First edition. Large quarto. 24pp. plus frontis gravure portrait and 14 color plates. Index. Beautifully printed by letterpress in red and black. Three-quarter vellum over green cloth sides, green leather spine label with much of the lettering obscured. Vellum lightly soiled, offsetting to free endpapers from publisher's glue. One of only 150 copies printed letterpress at the private press of the collector/author, ("Grove Park Press") with his facsimile signature at the colophon. Crisp had his Grove Park Press from about 1879 to 1922 and produced about 200 volumes, mostly of a genealogical nature. According to the introduction, the larger number of pieces of China mentioned were purchased by Crisp in 1896 from William Rix Seago, of Lowestoft. Mr. Seago obtained the bulk of his collection from Robert Browne of Lowestoft, the great-grandson of the original potter of that name. This volume, on the collection, is extremely scarce. Only one copy has sold at auction during the last 35 years; OCLC locates only 23 copies worldwide. [Ransom, Private Presses and Their Books: p.308]
