This book starts with several disclaimers that take over a page to cover. At first I was confused why it would begin on such a negative note until I started reading further.
The author omitted many fundamental elements vital to basic candy making and on several occasions instead of offering an explanation of the subject of focus, the author referred the reader back to the recipe instructions which were not included in the book.
The images are poor quality black and white photos and do not correlate to the candy referenced in the content or instructions. None of the candies on the cover image have recipes in the book.
Understanding the intent was not to be a recipe book but instead a how-to or book of fundamentals, the sections are so brief that they dont cover even basic information that is useful. The information that is shared often rambles on related subjects while leaving out any advice with substance. An example is the section on Nuts; in the six sentences used to examine nuts in candy making the author tells the reader nothing about how to actually use nuts in a recipe or the fundamentals of preparation or basic application in candy making, instead he goes on to give advice on finding out what kind of nuts people like and although he does mention that nuts can add crunch, he goes no further except to say that nuts are optional and then lists 4 kinds of nuts.
Unfortunately this book leaves the reader ill-prepared for candy making. I did not expect it to cover all fundamentals, but at least cover the fundamental elements for the subjects it approached. Although the writing style, subject organization, images and content are poor quality, the title was brilliant. It sucked me into wasting my money on it but sadly did not live up to its claims.
