At the same time it is hoped that the little work will be a boon to teachers who are burdened with the many subjects Of the school curriculum and the thousand interests Of the school room. The two simple little sketches give a bird's-eye view of the whole period, refer to topics which are discussed in the book, and proceeding from the general to the particular, they arouse curiosity while they engender a spirit Of research.
