Seller's Description:
Small 4to. Red cloth with gilt lettering, pictorial dust jacket. 322pp. Frontispiece, illustrations. Near fine/very good. Jacket rather edgeworn, with several small edge chips and lightly sunned spine. A tight and quite nice first edition of the New York governor's speeches. Not only is the often-absent jacket present, but tipped to the front flyleaf is a pale red 5" X 3" slip signed quite large and bold in pencil by Smith. Below his signature another hand adds "New York City" in blue ink and below this a 3½" X 2" newsprint head-and-shoulders portrait of Smith is neatly cut out and affixed.
