CALLED TO MARKETPLACE DISCIPLESHIP is a must read for all Christians. It is a timely reminder for Christians to have the correct perspective about their call in Christ, to live the Christian life in their daily work in the marketplace (profession, vocation, job, etc) they find themselves. The sacred and secular works are both important to God. The average Christian should bring his faith into his vocation and shouldn't feel he is not in ministry until he goes into full-time sacred ministry. The author argues that for too long the dichotomy between the Clergy and the Laity has left the latter under 'lock and key', preventing them from being the ambassadors, ministers and witnesses they ought to be in their various market places for Christ. He also advocates a synergy between the clergy (pulpit) ministry and laity (marketplace) ministry. According to him, the clergy must recognize, equip and release the latter into their various spheres of influence if the Church is to bring about transformation in cities and nations. The various practical and relevant examples of ordinary people drawn from the Bible, past and contemporary history, who lived out their faith in their various professions and vocations to influence their cities and nations, sustain the reader's interest.I wholeheartedly recommend this book to any Church that wants to fulfill the Great Commission.
