The difficulty of course was in the selection of the subject rather than in the writing. It is easier to make an essay on Walnuts than to make an essay on Auytbing (including walnuts), just as it is easier to be a tram than an omnibus. When your road is chosen for you, you can go ahead dili gently when you choose it for yourself, you are looking over your shoulder at the other roads, surely much more attractive, which you might have chosen; in which attitude progress is less fluent.
