Autobiographical. Story about Meredith and Rini Wilson's meeting and marriage, includes various events in their life including the development of the hit broadway musical "The Music Man" Meredith Willson's own story of the original production of the classic musical The Music Man for which he pulled off the trifecta, writing the music, lyrics and book, something almost unheard of in the Broadway musical stage. Tells the whole story, from the creation of the plot based on Willson's Iowa childhood (originally, the stuttering child Winthrop was going to be severely handicapped), the signing on of the production team, the casting of Robert Preston as Harold Hill, production difficulties and the triumphant opening night. This is perhaps the rarest and most prized Broadway musical memoir.
