The unity that comes from the pieces' common inspiration is the strength of the program: it might seem specialized and arcane, but in fact, these British pieces, all composed within a few decades of each other, are splendidly distinct, and oboist Nicholas Daniel and the Doric String Quartet bring out their distinctiveness.
