He is the author of the Report on the Cetacea (zoology, Vol. I, N o. That accomplished naturalist and skilful artist, the late Dr. E. A. Wilson, was the chief biologist of the shore party; he was mainly responsible for the collection of Birds, the report on which will include many reproductions of the sketches he made. Dr. Wilson, with the late Lieutenant H. R. Bowers and Mr. A. Cherry-garrard, undertook a most arduous and hazardous winter journey to the Emperor Penguin Rookery at Cape Crozier, to secure eggs with a series of early embryos, material that is now in the hands of Professor J. Cossar Ewart, f.r.s. Staff-surgeon G. Murray Levick, r.n., made numerous observations on the habits of the Adelie Penguin, and has written a report on this subject (zoology, Vol. I, No. 2) illustrated by photographs that he took. Surgeon-captain E. L. Atkinson, r.n., parasitologist to the expedition, collected and studied numerous parasites, the Antarctic material being taken chiefly from seals and fishes during the winter of 1911. The results of his work appear in the Report on Parasitic Worms (zoology, Vol. II, No. 3) prepared by him in con junction with Dr. R. T. Leiper, F. Rs.
