Though not as overtly roots-rock-oriented as Jeff Tweedy's Wilco, Krebs possesses a singing voice much like that of the alternative country icon's, and he seems to have a similar knack for crafting plaintive, mournful ballads as well. Though not as melodically complex as the aforementioned Elliott Smith, Krebs mines much of the same lyrical territory, mostly centering on themes of lost love and personal angst.
