Ich meine die durch ihre wundersamen Formen auffallendste aller Pilzfamilien, die Phalloideen. Schon bald nach me1ner Ankunft in Brasilien, wenn ich den Landsleuten in Blumenau auf ihre Frage, was ich denn dort zu thun gedachte zur Antwort gab, ich wollte mich mit Pilzen besch???ftigen, wurde mir oftmals gesagt: 0 wir haben hier einen sehr merkw???rdigen Pilz, er ist nur Abends zu sehen, stinkt abscheulich, hat einen Stiel und ein Netz darum, wie einen Reifrock, die Kinder nennen ihn die Dame, oder auch die Schleierdame. Das war die deutsch-brasilische Diagnose der Dictyophora phalloidea. Und kaum war mit dem November 1890 die heisse Jahreszeit herangekommen, so wurde mir auch eine solche Dame gebracht, und ich stand staunend vor diesem merk w???rdigsten aller Pilzgebilde (taf. I), und fasste im Augenblick den Entschluss, alles zu sammeln, was ich von Phalloideen nur irgend w???rde auftreiben k???nnen. Die Gesammtausbeute gestaltete sich nicht ung???nstig.
